Emotional intelligence can bring you success in many areas of your life. Not just in your personal relationships, but also in your career and with professional networking. Here are some attributes that most emotionally intelligent people possess. How many do you recognize in yourself?

  • Don’t Strive Towards Perfection. No one or nothing is perfect. Emotionally intelligent people understand this and are not afraid of making mistakes. Instead they learn from what they do wrong, and move forward.
  • Live a Balanced Life. Emotionally intelligent people know how important it is to eat healthy, exercise regularly and maintain good personal relationships outside of work, whether it be with partners, friends or family. They live in the now and value every aspect of their lives.
  • Embrace Change. Instead of being scared of change and new situations, these people embrace it and thrive from it. Change is an essential part of life and development. Emotionally intelligent people understand that they personally can, and will, benefit from change around them.
  • Are Self-Aware. Emotionally intelligent people know what their strengths and weaknesses are, and how to use them. They are aware of what to highlight about themselves and what traits to work on and better.
  • Have a Positive Attitude. Emotionally intelligent people generally have happy personalities and see opportunities where others face challenges. This makes them pleasant to be around. They also know what they want out of most situations and are enthusiastic in nature.
  • Have Strong Empathy. As the title itself suggests, emotionally intelligent people can easily understand and relate to others and how they are feeling. This makes them drama free and reliable individuals. They also have high moral values and feel strongly about what is right and wrong. Because of this, they often find ethical solutions to problems.
  • Know How and When to Set Limits. Being able to set limits when necessary is very important. Emotionally intelligent people know how to do this and when it is necessary. They are aware of how an over-booked schedule can limit themselves and the work that they do, and handle situations accordingly.
